Of course, they also must understand the physics of the process. We will see later in the chapter just how divergent the behaviors of a parcel of moist air can be. Clearly, it is important to get these predictions right because rising moist air leads to cloud formation and movement (possibly), precipitation (perhaps), weak or strong winds, temperature change at the surface (maybe)—in short, much of our weather.
